Getting started

What does it mean to claim a seat on a team?

Claiming a seat puts you on the roster of fans for a team. Free, instant, no verification needed. You can claim multiple teams across multiple leagues. The first team you claim becomes your primary; you can change that anytime in settings. Claims also count toward the team's next milestone — the Founding Hundred at 100, then 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, and infinitely upward.

What is the Founding Hundred?

The first 100 fans to claim a seat on a team earn a permanent Founding Hundred badge, tagged with their numeric rank (#1 through #100). The badge stays on your profile and on the team page forever. Every team's board is open from day one — banter boards spawn around real-world matchups and the community is in business; the first 100 claimers are honored as its Founders.

What is The Zone?

Your personal dashboard at /zone. Drag, resize, and save tiles from a catalog of widgets: live scores, news feeds, team boards, your follow list, the Score Ticker, multi-game view, Banter Board previews, etc. Build it once. Open it forever. You can save multiple Zones (Saturday CFB, Sunday NFL, Stream Stack, your custom mix) and switch with one click.

How do I sign in?

Email magic link. Drop your email, we send you a one-tap sign-in link, no password ever. We also support Google OAuth. We don't store passwords for anyone.

The Race and milestones

What's the Race?

The Race is the sitewide leaderboard of fanbases at /race. Every team races to its next milestone forever. We rank by how close a team is to its next rung — so a team at 87/100 climbs higher than a team at 1,200/2,500 even though the latter has more raw claims. The point is to highlight the fanbase about to cross something, not the team with the largest raw number.

What milestones are there?

The base ladder is 100 / 500 / 1,000 / 2,500 / 5,000 / 10,000. Past 10,000, milestones auto-extend by alternating 2.5× / 2× / 2× — so the next rungs are 25,000, 50,000, 100,000, 250,000, 500,000, 1,000,000, and on forever. The full algorithm lives in packages/db/src/lib/milestones.ts and the full ladder is documented in /race.

Does my claim count if I unclaim later?

Yes, if it crossed a milestone while you were on the roster. Founding Hundred badges are permanent — your rank doesn't evaporate if you unclaim. Future milestones count the current roster size at the moment of crossing.

The Rumble

What's the Rumble?

The Rumble is cross-fanbase scoring. When two communities go head to head — a rivalry weekend, a playoff matchup, a curated grudge — every claim, post, reply, upvote, AI top take, and outbound share by either fanbase earns Rumble points for their team. Daily cap of 50 points per user. Winners take the belt. Losers go into 24-hour Sad Mode (greyscale team theme + tears overlay).

How do points work?

+1 claim, +2 post, +1 reply, +1 upvote, +5 AI top take, +5 referral claim, +1 outbound share (capped at 3/day), −2 cross-pollination (posting on a rival team's board during the matchup). Full table on /rumble.

What's Sad Mode?

The 24-hour penalty for losing a Rumble. The losing team's theme drops to greyscale and a discreet tears overlay drifts down the page until the timer runs out. It's for the meme. Admin can override the duration in special cases.

ZoneIN+ and Team+

What's ZoneIN+?

ZoneIN+ is the sitewide subscription. Removes ads everywhere on the site, unlocks extra avatar frames, profile-mark cosmetics, custom cursor unlocks, more Zone tile slots, and priority access to new features. Roughly the price of a coffee per month.

What's Team+?

Team+ is the per-team subscription. Each verified team can offer a Team+ tier with its own perks: subscriber-only chat (VIP Lane), team-themed cosmetics, premium stickers, custom emojis, custom username flair colors, and the platinum Founding Sub badge for early subscribers. For NCAA team pages, 25% of every Team+ subscription routes to the school's NIL collective via Stripe Connect; ZoneIN retains 75% for platform operations.

What's Boost?

Boost is a team-page state that unlocks when the community hits a sustained activity threshold (currently 1,000 monthly active users). Boost-unlocked teams get expanded theming controls, more board widgets, longer chant displays, and an active visual treatment on their hero. See the Founding Hundred page for the full perk ladder.

NIL Hub, Tickets, and Store

What's the NIL Hub?

A surface where college fans can support their team's NIL collective directly, and where athletes & collectives can publish updates. Payouts flow through Stripe Connect to the verified collective's connected account: 25% of each contribution routes to the collective, 75% is retained by ZoneIN for platform operations, payment processing, and reporting. ZoneIN is not the NIL collective; we route the money. See /nil-disclosure for full details.

How do Tickets work?

We surface SeatGeek ticket inventory on team pages and game-thread pages. We're a SeatGeek affiliate — clicks pay a small commission. We do not resell tickets, hold inventory, or set prices. Disclosed at /affiliate-disclosure.

How do I become a Team Store vendor?

Apply at /vendors. Approved vendors set up a Stripe Connect account, list inventory, and we surface it on the relevant team pages with affiliate tracking. The Vendor Agreement is part of the application flow.

Team verification + brand pages

I represent a team. How do we get verified?

Visit /verify-team for the process. We verify ownership via official channels and then route the Brand Page Agreement for signature. Once signed, your team unlocks brand-page controls, verified avatar, broadcast posts, and the Team+ subscription tier.

What does a verified team get?

Verified ownership of the team's ZoneIN page, brand assets upload, broadcast posts pinned above fan content, the ability to host AMAs, Team+ subscription revenue, and the right to remove specific brand-mark misuse from the community. Verified teams cannot remove organic fan content or lock out moderators they disagree with — fans run the room.

Moderation and safety

How does moderation work?

Each team page has fan moderators (mods) who can hide posts, lock threads, and apply time-outs to repeat offenders. Mods are appointed from active fans on the team — apply at /team-admin/apply. The Fan Flag system lets any user report content; reports route to mods and admins. Sitewide admins review escalations.

What's not allowed?

Hate speech, doxxing, threats, sexually explicit content, scams, and impersonation are removed and accounts banned. Trash talk is encouraged. The line is clearly set in the Terms.

Payments and refunds

How do subscriptions get paid?

Stripe handles all subscription billing. You can manage, pause, or cancel from your /settings page. ZoneIN does not see or store your card number — Stripe handles that end to end.

Can I get a refund?

Subscriptions can be canceled anytime; access continues to the end of the paid period. Pro-rated refunds are reviewed case by case — email support and we'll sort it. We don't refund NIL contributions (those route to the collective, who have their own policies).
